Analysis Systems

The TASLIMAGE analysis system is a fully automated microscope based track analysis system, based on ultra-fast 3-axis motorised control and high quality Nikon optics. It can be used as a fully automatic readout system for dosimetry services with a throughput of 30-60 seconds per detector or detectors can be scanned individually. The scan data is automatically converted into a dose measurement and the results are displayed in a database. The system can in addition to reading our own proprietary TASTRAK format detectors also read the "Autoscan" style plastics or be configured for any size plastic, including automatic ID reading.

We offer a complete laboratory system for processing and reading out etched plastic track detectors.

We have been producing fully automated image analysis (readout) systems for track etch detectors for over 20 years. All of our analysis systems are based on conventional transmitted light microscopy, which offers substantial advantages over less detailed methods of data acquisition.

The unique feature of the system is our TASLIMAGE software, which is our own creation. The software scans the plastic at a higher magnification than a number of other etched track readers, providing a better quality of track image for processing and better discrimination between tracks and background features. Each feature located in the image is analysed separately by the program, which makes over 31 characteristic measurements to provide reliable discrimination between etched tracks and background features present on or in the plastic detectors. This sophistication in the processing is completely hidden from the operator who just sees the dosemeters being processed and can process a complete tray of detectors without requiring manual intervention. In addition to this, the image processing allows the background on the detectors to be determined separately from the track signal, resulting in very low backgrounds. This has the consequence that methanol (background deleting) pre-etches are not required, even for fast neutron dosimetry.
