Use of TASTRAK for RADON measurements

One of the main applications of TASTRAK plastic is in the measurement of radon, in the home or workplace, in mines or in the environment.  TASTRAK is supplied worldwide for this purpose, cut and scribed to customer requirements.

Radon gas is detected by housing a TASTRAK element in a small diffusion chamber.  TASTRAK may be exposed bare for the detection of radon decay products either in air or by plateout on the detector surface. When etched conventionally TASTRAK records well-defined tracks of alpha-particles from radon and its alpha-emitting short-lived decay product nuclei ²¹⁸Po and ²¹⁴Po.
