We offer a complete laboratory system for processing
and reading out etched plastic track detectors. The
system can be used for routine dosimetry of bulk quantities
of detector elements, or for any more specialised research
applications.

The complete measurement system comprises:
·
Fully
automated high specification image analysis readout system with high throughput and
unparalleled accuracy and low background. The system can read both our
own proprietary format of detectors, and also the "Autoscan"
style of detectors, including automatic ID reading.
·
High
sensitivity, low background TASTRAK CR-39 plastic elements, cut and scribed to
customer requirements
·
Stainless steel
etch/scan holders which transfer between etching and
scanning without the need to remount the detectors.
(see below)
·
(Optional) Ready-to-use
radon detectors in smart unobtrusive holder, housing TASTRAK CR-39 plastic
·
Full etch
processing facilities
·
Drying cabinet
·
All
necessary software and work instructions
·
Full
operator training available
Our radon detector consists of a
small unobtrusive plastic container housing a TASTRAK CR-39 alpha-particle
sensitive element [click
for photo]. This
records tracks of alpha-particles from the radioactive decay of radon which
diffuses into the container.
The standard (152x152mm)
TASTRAK etch/scan holder will
hold 25 detectors, and the large size (203x203mm) will
hold 49 detectors. The etching rack can hold up to a stack
of 6 holders giving an etch capacity of 150 plastics,
or 294 plastics for the large holder.
After etching the complete etch rack is dried,
and then each holder of is scanned on the
microscope (it is not necessary to remount the plastics-
they are scanned directly on the etch holder). Alternatively,
the large size holder can accommodate 56 "Autoscan"
styled detectors. Both the TASL format and the
"Autoscan" format are fully automatically
processed, including ID code reading.
The etch facility is a stainless
steel tank (including heater), with a stirrer and 3
term temperature controller. This will acommodate
a stack of CR-39 plate holders on an etching rack, which
we supply.
